Freeriding is a lifestyle. Continually searching for white gold, freeriders celebrate skiing – it provides happy moments and deep powder snow for a wide smile.
Natural snow as far as the eye can see, pristine slopes, 200 kilometres of deep snow – these ingredients make freeride dreams come true.
Due to its snow-assuredness and many north-facing slopes, Warth-Schröcken guarantees powder fun at its very best; THE freeride paradise on the Arlberg! Along with the respective offers, safety camps and courses, nothing stands in the way of safe access to off-piste fun!
Development and history of freeriding in Warth-Schröcken
Deep powder snow blocks your view, endorphins are released and for a moment you glide, almost weightless: This is what freeride dreams are made of. Find them in the most natural snow abundant ski area in the Alps, in Warth-Schröcken. Thanks to the many north-facing slopes, the snow lasts right through to spring. Yet Warth-Schröcken has not just become a freeride hotspot recently. The area can look back upon a long freeride history. The first ski pioneers were out and about here even in the 19th century and even today it is a base for freeride pros including Alois Bickel and Martin "McFly" Winkler.
Deep snow fans appreciate Warth-Schröcken in particular because of the amount of snow and its legendary backcountry areas. The ski area can also look upon a long freeride history, after all the first ski pioneers, including Warth’s Pastor Müller, were already out and about here in the 19th century. Experienced mountain and ski guides from the local ski schools take guests into the back-country. Unforgettable heli-skiing trips to the loveliest slopes on the Arlberg and the variety-packed freeride stomping ground awaits on guided one, or several day tours. As well as the well-known ‘Pfarrer Müller Tour’, there are other tour highlights that ought to feature in every freerider’s collection, such as: The Arlberg Freeride Safari: In just one day, experienced freeriders ride with ski and mountain guides via Lech Zürs to St. Anton and back again. Short ascents and sheer endless freeride runs through the very best Arlberg powder snow await. Over a total of six hours, four to six participants head downhill, before reaching Warth-Schröcken late in the afternoon.
Discover two very special freeride camp offers here in December and January, at which you will find out everything about safety and the right conduct away from the pistes. In conjunction with local ski schools, partner brands including Pieps and Kästle, as well as local guides, we offer you everything to set your freerider heart ablaze.
Likelihood of triggering
Triggering is possible, even from low additional loads, particularly on the indicated steep slopes (steeper than about 30 degrees). In certain situations some large, and in isolated cases very large natural avalanches are possible.
